Privacy policy

In one paragraph

GeoStill collects nothing about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no identifier of any kind. The app does need a handful of public data feeds to draw the globe and orient you in the world; the third-party services that provide those feeds receive only what's necessary to answer the request, and they never see your name, an account, or a device identifier.

What GeoStill itself collects

Nothing. GeoStill has no backend, no analytics framework, no advertising SDK, and no tracking integration of any kind. The app does not transmit usage data, click data, device data, or any other information to a server operated by Logical Appeals LLC or by any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking partner. There is no GeoStill server in the picture; your device talks directly to the public data sources listed below.

What's stored on your device

The app keeps a small amount of state on your device so it can pick up where you left off:

• Your filter selections (which categories of events appear on the globe).
• Your units preference (Auto / °F / °C).
• Whether ambient mode is on (iPad).
• Any storms you've pinned for Live Activity tracking.
• A short-lived cache of your approximate location and the most recent weather reply.

This information lives in the app's own storage on this device. It is not synced, uploaded, or backed up to any GeoStill server (there is no GeoStill server). Deleting the app removes all of it.

Third-party services

To draw the globe and orient you in space and weather, the app makes anonymous HTTPS requests directly from your device to the following public services. Each service may, like any web service, log the IP address that the request came from under its own privacy policy. None of these services receive your name, account, or any device identifier from GeoStill.

USGS Earthquake Hazards Program

Receives an HTTPS request for the public quake feed. No payload from the app beyond the standard request itself. usgs.gov/privacy

NASA EONET, GIBS, and Visible Earth

Receive HTTPS requests for the curated natural-event feed and the basemap imagery. No payload beyond the standard request. nasa.gov/privacy

NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center

Receives an HTTPS request for the planetary K-index that drives the geomagnetic-storm chip and polar caps. noaa.gov/privacy

ipwho.is and get.geojs.io

Receive your IP address as part of an HTTPS request and respond with an approximate city, country, timezone, and coordinates. The result is cached on your device for six hours; the IP itself is not stored or transmitted by GeoStill. ipwho.is is the primary; get.geojs.io is a fallback. ipwho.is · geojs.io

Open-Meteo

Receives only the approximate coordinates from the previous step (no name, account, or device identifier) and responds with current temperature, today's high and low, and a one-word condition. open-meteo.com/en/privacy

iOS permissions

The iOS app does not request any iOS permission. Specifically, the app does not request Location (CoreLocation), Notifications, Camera, Photos, Microphone, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Health, Motion / Fitness, Bluetooth, Local Network, Tracking (App Tracking Transparency), or any other permission. If iOS shows you a permission prompt for GeoStill, the app is broken or impersonated — please contact us using the address below.

Live Activities for pinned severe storms refresh on the same ten-minute schedule as the globe's EONET fetch. They are not push notifications and the system therefore does not prompt you to allow notifications.

Children's privacy

GeoStill is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone of any age, because GeoStill does not collect personal information at all.

Your rights

GeoStill holds no personal information about you on any server operated by Logical Appeals LLC, so there is nothing for us to access, port, correct, or delete on your behalf. To exercise rights with respect to data that one of the third-party services described above may have logged from your IP address, please contact each service directly using the privacy-policy links in the previous section.

Whether you are in California (CCPA / CPRA), the European Union or United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR), or another jurisdiction with comprehensive privacy laws, the operative statement is the same: GeoStill holds no personal data about you. Deleting the app removes everything listed under "What's stored on your device" above.

Sale or sharing of personal information

GeoStill does not sell, share, lease, license, or otherwise disclose personal information to any party. There is no personal information for us to sell.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes meaningfully, the effective date at the top of the page will be updated and the change will be noted in the next app version's release notes. The website copy at geostill.com/privacy and the bundled in-app copy stay in sync.
